Marika raised her head, sucking in a soft breath at the sudden plunge into darkness. She quickly crouched, creeping forward slowly, trying to be careful where she put her feet. After moving a few feet, she stopped, deciding it may be best to stay put until a mentor arrived. She raised her torso up once again, carefully, while attempting to glean some light from the silent darkness surrounding her- stuck in her light armor and some soft but worn training clothes.

For a moment there was nothing but all-consuming darkness. The silence was almost deafening in volume, as the walls seemed to be sound-proofed. There was nothing that immediately blocked her path, and the nothingness in the room settled as it seemed that she was alone...
"Have you brought a weapon?" came the hushed voice of a male, not two feet away from where Marika stood.

Marika twitched at his sudden appearance, stepping away from him with a faint swish as she sucked in a sharp breath, saying after a moment. "Maybe, but I should not give away that information unless I am sure that I should." Her brow furrowed up thoughtfully, trying to think. She did have her small knives...

"Clever," he spoke. "I can see that you have some potential." The soft sound of padded footsteps was barely audible, and it was clear that the sound was receding, growing further away from her. Other than this noise and the subtle rustle of fabric, the silence was left for the most part unbroken.

Marika heard the footfalls grow softer, as she tried to figure out whether or not to follow. She bit her lip, nodding decidedly as she crept after, trying to follow the near-silent footsteps curiously, reaching down to reach for the knives- she didn't want to be hasty, but maybe staying back wasn't the right thing...she should be bold, right?

In a flash, a bright blinding light flooded a small portion of the room from a fixture in the wall, casting an oblong square on the floor. Standing in front of the light was the silhouette of a figure, quite a bit taller than Marika. He was facing her, so that he could see her face while his was still pervaded by dark shadows. His ears were perked up, watching her attentively. "So you're looking to be an Agent."

The doe bit back a grunt at the sudden shocking flash of light, causing spots to dance in her eyes as she tried to focus, managing finally to lock her eyes on the figure. She eyed him- he was a good deal taller than her, so he had an obvious advantage in the department. She would avoid a fight...hopefully this training was more about skill in other areas.
She couldn't pick out his face...oh well... she would roll with what she got. She nodded silently, before affirming it with her words as well. "Yes...indeed." Did he need a title? Oh well, better not waste the words. Her speckled ears were pricked a bit to try and absorb every hint of a sound around her, not moving much closer.

"Marika Coy, is it?" he spoke again, watching her as she tried to ascertain exactly what her surroundings were. He could see her as an Agent. Obviously lithe in build, she had the potential to be a good one, too. He decided to relinquish a bit of his mysterious upper hand and introduce himself. "My name is Fiasco Fletch, Co-Chief of the organization. I'll be mentoring you today."

Marika nodded once, a short head bob, at hearing her name- she wished sometimes that her name didn't seem so girly. Oh well, at least her name meant "Silent and Careful"... perhaps that would help her in this assignment. She returned her dark gaze to him when he spoke, revealing himself. Co-Chief? He was her mentor? Interesting. Wasn't he an Attacker? She thought idly. Oh well- it wouldn't make that much of a difference, right? If he was Co-Chief, he must know what he is doing. She gave a short bow- she never curtsied, and anyone who asked her of such was severely pushing it- but a Co-Chief would warrant a bow from her. "Thank you, sir." Short, to the point- that was Marika's style.
((Fail Dx))

((No fail! Why fail?))
He could see she was professional and not easily intimidated, or at least she didn't show it. Stepping slightly to the side and into the shadows so that the full force of the light shone on the girl, he quietly retrieved a dagger from the loop in his belt. He'd borrowed it from the Recon supply room for this training session in particular, but he'd used daggers like this many times before. He had made certain that the blade was dull enough, as this was a training dagger and was not meant to make deep cuts. He did not take his eyes off of his trainee, all the while assuring that the dagger's blade did not glint in the light and therefore alert her to its presence. "Have you any experience in fighting?" he wondered.

She kept her eyes on the taller male, ears twitching thoughtfully. He stepped aside, into the darkness that surrounded her in her island of light, a black sea that held unknown mountains and 'monsters'. She snorted silently, dismissing the idle thoughts of imaginative streaks, all traces of her sister's fanciful thinking, no doubt.
She responded after a moment. "Yes, I have some knowledge." Her throat closed up as she peered about, tongue sliding over her teeth thoughtfully, sliding a leg back around to keep her eyes as much on him as possible, without letting him look nervous.

Fiasco felt the slightest twinge of a smile grace his lips for just a moment. Some of the others treated training the newbies as a chore, carrying it out begrudgingly and with irritation. But he found it exciting, which is why he gave up a lot of his time to it. He liked being able to see hands-on the people who were being admitted into the organization.
"Then show me," he said, and without giving her a second to think about it, jumped forward in a very basic move. Let's see how good your reflexes are...

((Okay, so at this point the battle has begun, so you'd go ahead and list your HP at the top of your post. Since I rolled a 16, which is exactly Marika's Armor Class, it hits her, and for maximum damage too (I rolled an 8 out of a possible 8) so now it's just up to you to roleplay her reaction and go for it! Also, since this is a training battle, she won't actually get hurt more severely than a few cuts, but the inherent damage should be clear to both of them, so we'll still track HP to see how each participant is faring. If you have any doubts don't be afraid to ask in OOC!))[rand=587459561647847314522090577520435910097949672496671570693142712]

HP: 42/50
Marika’s brow was furrowed in concentration as an attempt to puzzle out his next move. As Co-Chief, he was sure to be tough on her- though she’d rather not have it any other way. She only hoped he’d be fair- even though an Agent’s work was never fair. Underhanded would be her specialty. Wait- what was that on the floor? Her eyes darted down to stare at some loose piece of grit, catching her attention away just as he spoke. Her eyes darted back up just in time to see him lunge forward, feeling his knife slash across her shoulder, the sting of cut skin and cloth hitting her a second later. It wasn’t serious- but it did sting her pride. She gritted her teeth and set her mind to concentrate on the battle, and leapt towards his side in a counter-attack.
Marika uses Basic Attack.

((You lucky duck! Rolling natural 20s on your first try, haha.))
HP: 66/70
Her sudden lash was well-timed, and it nicked him in the side just as he moved away from her, side-stepping further from the light. "You're not bad," he mentioned, his keen eyes tracking her. With a quick flick of his wrist, he went at her again, this time hoping to plant the knife into her gut with a well-placed lunge.
Fiasco uses Basic Attack. [dice=20+4][dice=4+4]

HP: 42/50 (This is right, right?)
She saw the slash across his side, and let just the tiniest of smiles flash across her features, securing her hold on her dagger once again. She raised her chin, eyeing him up and down for any weak spots. But it was too soon to halt and eye him up for too long, as he made a move towards her, the knife flashing towards her gut. Her hand flicked out, trying to force his knife to sweep through the air away from her flesh. Right afterward, she whipped her knife back around to go for his upper arm.
Marika uses Basic Attack.
